2/1st Battalion, Royal New Zealand Infantry Regiment (light infantry) – originally the 2nd Battalion, this was given its current name in 1973. The 3/1st Battalion, RNZIR was a planned TF mobilisation unit, a concept which arose during 1990s reorganisation planning which did not go beyond ‘paper’ status.

He commanded the New Zealand Division's 2nd Infantry Brigade for nearly two years on the Western Front and on occasion was acting commander of the division.

I know that the history of the New Zealand Division is available online, but does anyone know if there is any specific website or book that deals with just the 1st and 2nd Battalions of the Wellington Regiment or which contains more information about them than the Divisional book? According to the history of the Wellington Regiment Pg 91-92 on formation of the 2nd Battalion there was a Taranaki Company with both 1st and 2nd Battalions, along with Wellington West Coast, Hawkes Bay and Ruahine Company's dupicated in both.
